Greetings, Salutations, and so Forth as it Begins
Starting out a blog, or really anything in particular can be fairly daunting, especially when you’ve got a ton on your plate – as is such the case with many people. Finding that start, that firm stepping stone that you don’t slip off of, can be rather challenging. What if I were to lose the motivation, what can I do to keep the motivation going, for who is this all made for.
When creating this blog, I have many times wondered that, as someone who is a creative and has fascination hunting down bits of media, both odd, niche and commonplace.
That leads to the first bit of a stumble, what would I cover first and do I have that energy and creative drive to write about it. I could talk about the oddities of South African gaming, a history mostly not touched upon, or I could cover the tie in titles to some European franchises or Japanese ones not talked about often in the western world.
While I ramble about this, did you know there was a South African made Super Mario Bros romhack called Van Der Merwe en Boetie?
Did you know a good number of PC games post 2010 where everything became bound to an online launcher actually have the full title on their respective discs? I’ve personally been cataloguing the ones I come across.
Did you know that there was a tie in mobile game for Garfield 2 that has a weird Final Fantasy esque RPG mechanic.
I could go from that or talk about the latest feature films I’d seen, from a wide release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, to the surprise that is the Doraemon features that get theatrical releases in my travels or Shin Ultraman’s unexpected theatrical release.
Or we could talk about Spider-Man, I hear that SpiderVerse 3 is taking its time in production – that they hadn’t recorded voice over yet, which in turn means that they most likely haven’t done much if any work on the animation for the movie outside of most likely test footage. Personally speaking I’m not too worried about the production delay, but I do find it amusing that the executives that tried to push for the film to come out the exact year after the previous one didn’t account for a few things – that first if you want to hit such a release for an animated movie of this scale, you need to keep the production train going, they need to be worked on concurrently, as well as also underestimating just how long the animation process can take. My real concern is moreso the quality as they’ve set such a high bar with the previous two features, plus should this one be a disappointment, with how heavily the second film is tied/relying on it, it will retroactively affect 2’s return viewing experience.
If you made it to this point of the blog, thank you very much. While the above may seem like rambles, the goal was to give an idea on what could be expected here should you choose to keep watching, and to provide an introduction without going through the standard fair.
After all, isn’t it a bit tacky for your introduction piece to use your social name and “this is what you can expect”. Feels as if I’m being handed a menu printed on blank paper, where’s the pictures of the food, the creative naming schemes. I know this meal will contain “Bread”, can you make “bread” sound interesting? Call it a Wheat Wafer (actually that might work with a dash of sugar).
That said, thank you for reading and I hope people stick around, the motivation will always be appreciated.
And hey, who knows what oddities may crop about
Now I am looking forward for you to talk about this ZA Mario hack and that Garfield 2 mobile RPG game!
ReplyDeleteIdeally will get around to that soon, if not got a ton of oddities I've stumbled across over time
DeleteWonder if there'd ever be a Super Mandela Bros game hack...
